My first time to use gouache! After a recent disastrous experiment with watercolor, I must say I like working with gouache better. How about you, which medium do you prefer working with?
Hope you all enjoy it and God bless you, people!
UPDATE 6/19/13: Thank you to the 24 people who added this to their favorites! You know who you guys are! I can't thank you personally right now, but I sincerely appreciate your love for my art. So thank you, and God bless you, guys. You rock!
this is so lovely I love the simplicity of it and the simple colours. Really wonderful job! for your question, I've never tried guache but I use acrylics most of the time if I'm painting, though my preferred medium is colouring pencils and pastels since I have more control over them
I started with gouache as a teenager, when I wanted to give painting a go (watercolours were a disaster for me!) and I've moved onto acrylics as I've got older.
Gouache is probably more flexible in being able to water it down & work with & can give an appearance of being a watercolour. I find acrylics more intense, though I've yet to learn everything you can do with them. (I tend to slap them on & play with the colours & generally make a mess )
Colours here work really got together! Whole picture is simple, but impressive... I've never used gouache, but I love watercolour. Funny, I love it because it's sooo difficult...that's a challenge for me
Thank you! I've never tried mixing paint with a another kind of paint. How do you do it? Do you directly mix/blend it on paper, or on the mixing plate then apply on paper? Sorry if I sound so ignorant haha. Paint is not my usual art medium, actually.
no problem. well , anything goes , but usually i will do a base layer of watercolor , and then go over it with watery gouache, and you can build those layers , gouache blends in very nicely with the watercolor when it dries. it is great for shading / lighting effects. I am busy with one now, I will submit it most probably today or tomorrow.
